Rocking New Years 2007

It's that time of year when you need to start thinking of what to do for New Year's Eve. 2008 is just around the corner and there is no better way to end the year than banging it up with your favourite rock music. There are plenty of gigs happening on the eve of the 31st, but here are some to watch out for.

The Live House, formally known as the Lewisham Hotel, will be going local this New Years Eve in Sydney. The rock band of choice is Sonic Aces with lead band singer Wes Pudsey. Wes will be doing a couple of sets of the band's classics, before Daniel Wegrzyn takes over for a set.

Miss Pia Anderson goes on for her own set after Daniel. The show will be broadcasted live for the countdown at the Sydney Harbour. After midnight, the music will go into a time warp with the best classics from the 70s and 80s.

Sonic Aces are one of Australia's famous bands and have been together for ten years. The lead singer, Wes Pudsey formed the band in mid 1997. Along with the three other members, they have played at some of Sydney's premier live music venues, such as: the Annandale Hotel, Iron Duke Hotel and Bar Broadway.

On the other side of the globe, Dengue Fever will be playing at the Temple Bar in Los Angeles. The concert is titled "A Cambodian Pop Rock Psychedelic New Year's Eve." After Dengue Fever, DJ Anthony Valadez takes over for the last couple of sets.

Ethan Holtzman and his brother, Zac, formed Dengue Fever in 2001. They discovered the talent of Chlon Nimol, who later became their lead singer. The band consists of 6 members with Ethan playing the Farfisa organ, Zac on vocals and guitar, Chlon on vocals, Senon Williams and David Ralicke on bass and Paul Smith on drums. The band is well known as an alternative, indie rock music band.

Around the corner from Los Angeles in Hollywood, the Viper Room is having its own New Years rock concert with Super Suckers. Eddie Spaghettis is the lead singer and will be performing famous hits from the band's collection.

For an alternative Rock experience, the Key Club in Hollywood is putting on a rock theatre play, Metal Skool on New Years Eve. The play is a famous 80s heavy metal comedy act. The musical includes old rock hits from Warrant, Bon Jovi, Guns 'n Roses and Poison.

Wherever you are in the world, local and international rock bands are playing on New Year's Eve. There isn't a better way to enter the New Year than with the good company of friends and good rock music. If you can't make it to any of these gigs, then find out what's playing in your country. Enter 2008 rocking hard.
